The Versatility of VHHs as Intrabodies for Cellular Applications

The stability of VHHs as intrabodies in the cytoplasm of cells is one of their most advantageous properties. Indeed, it allows researchers to deploy VHHs as a multimodal tool. One can detect, block, perturb, degrade, image, trace, ectopically locate one’s protein of interest in cells/trap the protein of interest in a cellular compartment. As such a VHH outperforms other tools such as pharmacological compounds, peptides and siRNAs. It basically suffices to transfect the VHH cDNA into cells using conventional transfection reagents.
